From my friend Clay down at McAdams Floral in Victoria TX comes this sad story of another Proflowers funeral tribute gone wrong.
Clay said…”When I was making my usual Sunday funeral home deliveries, I happen to see this opened box in an office area. I thought it was for the service I was delivering for on Sunday, but it turns out it was delivered at 10:30 Friday for a 10am service. The customer was calling the funeral home on Friday morning to ask if they got it….she said it should have been delivered on Thursday for the viewing. I can only guess that she ordered it sometime Wednesday, and she was told it was to be delivered next day. Anyway, the funeral home told the family about it later on Friday and they said that they would come by and pick it up…Sunday and it is still there.”
When will people learn? This poor lady from West Bend WI, paid over $200.00 including shipping and her tribute did not even make it in time for the services. She would have gotten a much better presentation, not to mention better service from a local florist. Proflowers relies on Fed/Ex and UPS for delivery of their products in most cases. Sadly these companies do not understand nor care about the timing issues faced by local florists every day.
By the way, the fine print on this item, says “Easel not included”… most funeral homes do NOT have extra easels, and in this case the funeral home did not, even if the items had made it in time for the service.
Oh, and if any flowers fall out durring shipping, “Just insert them where they make the most sense”…

Well not necessarily!
Smith’s features Eufloria Roses exclusively. We are the only florist in the Tri-cities that carry Eufloria and we go to great lengths to offer the worlds premiere roses to our customers.
Eufloria are hydroponically grown, and shipped in water from California all the way to Smiths ariving in the same fresh cut state as when they left the farm. Unlike other roses that are shipped dry in a box, our roses are never dry, never laid down in a box and are the finest roses available.
We are seeing in-home lasting times of up to 3 weeks, and even longer in some cases.
Keep an eye on our blog, we’ll be uploading a video in the next few days showcasing how our roses are packed and shipped.
Send someone roses today!
Well there you have it, it came and went and I missed getting up my Blog post about Mothers Day…shame on me.
We’ve been a little busy here at Smith’s and are looking forward to summer (we still have those in Michigan right?) and getting back to a steady flow. We’re thankful for the blessings of your continued support of not only Smith’s Flower but the other independent retailers in Midland that you shop at too.
I’d just like to take this missed opportunity to thank you, our customers for your past business, and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future.
Have a great summer!
OK, so I’m in the middle of a debate with a bunch of other florists scattered across North America regarding the name of what we used to call Secretaries week, which this year is April 20-24th with April 22 being THE DAY! The day to send your Secretary/Administrative Professional Assistant some beautiful flowers from Smith’s to show them just how much you appreciate their efforts, and maybe even their coffee…
For years it was called Secretaries Day, a time to honor the “Secretary” in the office/company that did all the “dirty work”, paper work and you bosses know what I’m talking about, often the office had a secretary and then other office staff that were not quite as important as the head “secretary”.
But in this day of political correctness, several years ago the name of the week was changed to Administrative Professional Assistants Day (try to fit that on a sign) and the battle began to rage among florists, and it’s been brewing ever since. What the heck should we call this event?
What ever you call it, remember, this year it’s the week of April 20-24th, with the 22nd being the day!
Secretaries Day? or is it Administrative Professional Assistants Day?? What say you? Leave us a comment below, we really would like to know what you think!
Thanks and have a great day!
We just wanted to show off our “test bunch” of Eufloria Happy Hour roses. These roses arrived in our store on March 30th (15 days ago) and were held in our cooler for 5 days, then vased as we normally do for all of our orders and set out on our front counter. We constantly test the products we sell to be sure they meet our standards. Thats one of the reasons we went to the extra expense of using Eufloria roses. They far out preform any other roses we have tested to date. Being grown in California and shipped in water they are fresher than any other rose we have seen or used.
These images are untouched, and as they came out of the camera, so please excuse the image quality. We did not want to re-touch them as that would not present the “truth”.
Stop in to Smith’s Flowers in Midland MI and let us show you our roses from Eufloria… we’re impressed, and think you will be too!
Just in time for spring planting, Gantec Advance® LLC has released the granular version of Blossom Springs® Soil Concentrate.
This product is designed to be mixed right into your potting mix for vegetable plants, blooming plants and plants of any kind. Mix it in before potting up your “starts” for this summers garden, or your planter boxes for more blooms, more color, longer life and a higher yeild.
Smith’s Flowers in Midland Michigan, uses Blossom Springs® Soil Concentrate on all of our potted plants that we sell, making our plants more healthy, hearty and colorful and vibrant than anyone elses in town. We see a big difference and are sure you will too.
Well since Chad let the cat out of the bag (thanks, Chad) I guess I’ll go ahead and tell you all about an exciting change in product coming to Smiths Flowers beginning April first. Smith’s is partnering with Eufloria Flowers, one of the very few premiere rose growers still growing in the United States. Eufloria is located in Nipomo California and it’s roots go back to mid-nineteenth century Denmark. You’ll be seeing this logo a lot around Smith’s and in our coolers. We are changing from our current (non-USA) rose supplier, to offering Eufloris Roses exclusively. Likewise, we will be the only florist in Midland offering these superior roses to our customers. Through our volume buying, we are able to offer you these awesome roses at our regular price, not only providing a higher quality rose, but a better value to our customer.
The colors are exquisit and based on our weekely shipping systems we can special order as little as one bunch of a specific color of rose to fit any need you may have. Eufloria Roses are shipped in water to Smiths, not dry packed in a box like other roses. Shipping in water is more expensive, but we feel the expense is worth it to give our customers a product that’s never allowed to dehydrate like other roses are when shipped in a box for a week or more before they get to the local florist.
Whites that range from a creamy soft white, to bright, brilliant pure whites.
Pinks that jump off the page, and come in a variety of shades.
And pinks, that are soft, perfect for bridal bouquetts and flower girl baskets.
As you can see, Eufloria has many quality roses we’ll be showcasing over the next couple months as we bring in weekly shipments, we’ll be changing the varieties weekly for a while to be able to show you all the colors and types available. Stop in the store often over the next few weeks and have a look at this exciting change to our fresh flower offering. I’m sure you’ll fall in love with Eufloris, just as we have.
Keep an eye on our blog and web site as well as the sign in front of the store!
Eufloria is coming to Smith’s starting April first. Eufloria is the premiere product in their product line and will give Smith’s customers a much richer, more abundant experience with no added cost over our current offering.
We’ll post up some images as soon as they are available!
